　　Seeing such a gentle and graceful boy, it is difficult to associate him with words such as poverty and misfortune. However, upon entering his home, we were shocked by the situation before us. In the 1960s, the old house was almost empty except for a few old tables and chairs, and a 21 inch color TV given to it by someone else.

　　Without a mountain field, the only one acre of thin farmland is difficult to supply even food. My 47 year old mother has no education and can only wear brushes at home, earning only a few yuan a day. My younger brother is just five or six years old, at the age of starting kindergarten, and all the expenses of the family rely solely on my stepfather's monthly income of a few hundred yuan

　　When Gao Shuming was 8 years old, his father, who was building a house for someone else, fell off the roof and died. The pillar of support at home collapsed, adding insult to injury to the already impoverished family. Afterwards, his mother took him through difficult times with the help of relatives. As a young child, he secretly made up his mind to study hard and change the poor and unfortunate situation of his family in the future. From elementary school to high school, his academic performance has always been among the top few in his class. During middle school to high school, he received assistance from the China US Love Foundation, which further strengthened his determination to study hard and give back to society. After entering high school, in order to save money, he worked in the cafeteria while attending school to earn food expenses. Although he is relatively poor compared to his peers, he has never had a sense of inferiority. In his view, as a student, learning is an important thing. Only by seizing this opportunity can one overcome their own and their family's difficulties in the future and use their abilities to help others in need. Last year during the college entrance examination, he was admitted to the Civil Engineering Department of Xinhua Vocational College with the highest score in science among high school graduates from Heli Middle School. The school's tuition and living expenses require more than 10000 yuan per year, which is unimaginable for a family like him. After being contacted by the Youth League Committee and recommended by Dongliang Engineering, the famous entrepreneur in our city, Bian Yufu, the CEO of Anhui Ningguo Jinlong Industrial Co., Ltd., took the initiative to visit his home to understand the situation and gave him more than 12000 yuan, which solved his tuition and accommodation expenses for one year in one go. When he received this huge sum of money, Gao Shuming's surprise and gratitude were beyond words. He only wanted to repay kind-hearted people and society's concern for him with outstanding performance in his future college life.

　　After entering university, he maintained a strong learning enthusiasm on one hand - although civil engineering was difficult to learn, his grades always ranked among the top one or two in the class. On the other hand, he actively participated in various social activities, such as successfully running for the position of acting deputy minister of the student union's learning department and working as a life assistant for the dean and teachers of a secondary college to exercise his ability to handle affairs. His positioning for himself is to lay a foundation in his freshman and sophomore years, maintain a middle to high level in learning, and exercise various abilities. In his junior and senior years, he will participate in social practices such as part-time work and extended learning, to provide some experience and ability reserves for his future entry into society.

　　After a year of study in his freshman year, he became more clear about his future direction: as a child from a poor family like himself, only by constantly learning and enriching himself can he win a place for his future survival. Several years later, he hopes to establish his own enterprise through his own efforts, making poverty and unfortunate life a turning point forever.
